Multi-cam to screen on live event
I've had some requests of multi-cam work for direct show on a big screen on events...
What would the simpliest solution be to have a "good enough"-solution for this be? Facts: 1. Two cameras is enough, but three would be preferred 2. Today I have a Sony PDW-F330 and the only connectors that I could use for this is probably the component and genlock... (right?). I should get another camera with similar connectors. 3. Some hardware needed for the guy that decides what camera should be shown on the big screen (don't know the english terms). Questions: A. I suppose that there is nothing else but some sync signal on the genlock connector? B. Would a Sony CCU 350 do the job? Does it even work with the Sony PDF-F330? C. What hardware would I need to to switch the video output to the big screen between the two cameras? D. Are there any other suitable hardware that can/should be used? Even perhaps in combination with at computer? Thankful for any help - this is really not my area of expertice :) (I realize now that a CCU 350 will only take control over the camera, so it's not what I'm looking for here. But still interested if it would work with my cam). Last edited by Joachim Ljungquist; February 8th, 2010 at 10:10 AM. |

Hiya, you would be best off getting a Panasonic HVS400 mixer or similar. These do not require genlock. It would also be handy if both camera's output HD-SDI, the 330 does not , but you could run it through a converter such as a blackmagic Analog to Digital one.
I've always prefered using large camera's with changeable lenses because then you can put longer lenses on them. That enables you to get closeups which you need for the screen, people themselves can see wide shots with their own eyes. Depending on what the venue is we have gone for the 2 camera on a tripod or 1 camera on tripod and 1 handheld. |
