4 Pin 12V DC Out Connector

I've spied a 4pin 12V DC out connector on the back of my F355 and was hoping by some chance I would be able to tap power from that. I'm assuming it's to power the Sony WRR series mic system. However i'd like to attach my IDX CAM~WAVE to the back of the camera for my Steadicam setup. There is a full size 4pin connector which is being utilized to power the camera, however to conserve extra weight on my Steadicam I was hoping I could tap power from the mini 4pin to power the IDX wireless back simultaneously. If this is possible i'd love to know where I might be able to source a mini 4 to full size XLR4 connector.

you can buy the connector at Sony Spares, however you can only drive a load of up to 500mA which is bugger all

you are better off using the camera light power plug near the front right, it will give you much more power (Anton Bauer type plasic connector, weighs nothing, available at www.gencomtech.com.au)

Jonathan,

Anton is correct about that 12V out connector. It will only drive a very light load. The WRR however, gets its power from the multi-pin connector at the base of the drop-in slot adapter.

This 4 pin connector is aimed at supplying power to an external wireless receiver or other low power device.

Using the Anton Bauer connector never occurred to me. I think I even have a 2-4pin Anton Bauer cable laying around our technician made.. I'm definitely going to give this a try when I'm in the office Monday morning. This could certainly save the day!

Thanks for that suggestion Anton.

I use the D-tap connector on the front end of my F800 to power my nanoFlash. Works great, and it gives me an on/off switch on the camera body, because the power switch on the nano can't be turned off.
