Error: Media Operation Failure
Had some odd errors tonight with a U1 and Vegas Pro 8.0b on a friend's system, and I was wondering if anyone else has hit this or knows the cause.
I was part of a multi-camera XDCAM SD (DVCAM-mode) shoot, and we went to my friend's computer to load all the clips in afterward. I loaded mine in through Vegas Pro 8.0b and all went well, and then before loading my friend's clips in, we decided to look at some of them on the Professional Disc directly, so Sony's XDCAM Viewer launched and we looked at them and then exited. I was getting ready to launch Vegas again when my friend needed to check something else on a clip, so I double-clicked the clip and this time the XDCAM Viewer launched, but didn't create a viewing window and an error box popped up with "Media Operation Failure". At this point, the part of the XDCAM Viewer that was visible hung, and I had to kill it from the task manager. I rebooted the system and tried again, same result. Then I launched the XDCAM Viewer directly instead of clicking on the MXF clip and the viewer came up normally. I loaded the same clip in from the disc through its File>Open and it worked fine. I then launched Vegas and downloaded the disc through the XDCAM Explorer. It loaded in, but... It showed TWO thumbnails for every clip instead of the standard one per clip in the XDCAM Explorer while downloading. In reality, only one copy of each clip was downloaded. Kinda wonky, eh? Thanks for any advice.
