Any news on recovering meterial?
Is there any news about recovering accidentaly deleted files on XDCAM disc? I accidentaly deleted all clips from disk instead of deleting last clip. Hopefully, clips were not too important, but anyway, if I can recover those clips...Last time disscusion about recovering was on July 28th, 2007. Maybe something changed?

I can confirm what Greg said. Sony have a specialist media department in France that can recover deleted files provided you don't record anything else on the disc. Don't know what it costs (if anything??). You should contact your dealer.

Indeed,
Windows/Dos/Mac OS have no access to the hidden part of the disc structure. XDCAM records internally in fragments of 2 seconds + header + mini content list. By salvage mode (recovery in the camcorder) or the forced salvage mode (sony techs) the disk is searched for all 2s fragments and a new content list will be created. Unfortunately the standard salvage mode does not recover formatted disks (i just tried) - so you have to send it to sony. Regards ULI |
