XDCAMHD 700 Import problem

I had a problem importing footage from the XDCAMHD 700 this weekend.
the original files were all cut short by about 20sec. and the Audio wasnīt coming through.

Workflow:
Import to Avid media composer on mac-book pro
copy to SXS card
transfer to Avid Liquid Chrome (PC) for import

the clips which had already been edited on the MAC and rendered came through just fine
but the original XDCAMHD 700 mxf files were causing havoc

the files from the EX3 were working perfectly too

any ideas??

Hey Kenny

I'd like to help you out, but I'm confused by your workflow. So you imported in the AVID and then copied to an SxS card? Did you just copy the MXF material over or what? Can you explain a little more?

Andy

workflow explained

Hey Andi

yes here is more or less how it all went down.

2 teams - 2 edit systems transferring data from one system to the next by copying to SxS cards and importing on the next system

The DVD and hilite team were all shooting on XDCAMHD 700īs.
their footage was going from the XDCAMHD player onto a MBPro.

The news team (me) was shooting on XDCAMEX3, my footage was being imported straight from the SxS cards onto the Avid Liquid Chrome,(PC) via express card slot.
and Avid media composer(MAC)via express card slot

to round off the news, we needed some of the hilite footage,
we copied the native files (mxf) from the MBPro to SxS card
then imported that footage from the SxS card into the PC.

more than that I canīt really tell you, as I was only resposible for shooting the news stuff and not the editing.
I was sitting next to the cutter and was feeling his pain as the satelite deadline drew nearer and the problems with the XDCAMHD 700 footage kept coming up.

we ended up importing the sound files seperately as wavīs, which worked well, but was a bit time consuming.

we made the deadline by 30 seconds, by playing out 2 thirds of the required output on 1 tape and playing out the 3rd part of it while the first tape was going up to the satellite.

hats off to P for quick thinking, which save our @$$

was a fun shoot though
