PDW-700: External Recording via Firewire/iLink
After Software upgrades for SD Recordings: DVCAM, etc.
Is the PDW-700 capable of sending a live Audio & Video stream via Firewire/iLink to an external recording device, such as a DVCAM deck, or a Laptop (For use with: Adobe's On-Location CS4)? I was told that the PDW-700 was ONLY capable of streaming live A/V via the camera's SDI/HD-SDI outputs. Also, the Camera's firewire port CAN NOT be used while in RECORD MODE; PDW-700 Firewire port is for transfering data only. Is this true? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance. |

This is true. With the latest version of the firmware the i.Link port will not work when recording and only functions as a FAM connection. I've heard that there might be a firmware release that would stream 25mb HDV or DV. But for now that's not an option.
