PDW 700 Lens: HJ11ex4.7b vs HJ17ex7.7b
I need a DP's opinion...What are the limitations of using a wide angle HD lens vs a standard HD lens when you have a diverse shot list? We're trying to get away with sending out a camera package with just the Canon w/a HJ11ex4.7b but the producers are requesting both lens types for their shoots quite often. Any insight would be greatly appreciated ...as I'm not a shooter...

ummmm... one is a wide angle lens for shooting wide angle shots. The other is a standard lens for shooting standard shots.
You really need a standard/long lens to go with the wide. A 22x would also be a better option than the 17x. Send out one lens as a standard and charge extra for the wide. |

The HJ11x4.7 is a nice lens but has a quite limited focal length range. The 17x7.7 has a much larger range, starting reasonably wide. This makes it a more versatile lens, although there will be occasions when a wider FOV would be nice.
