Music Promo shot on the A7s

Hi Folks,

Thought this may interest those of you out there shooting on the A7s!

I shot a promo towards the end of last year for a band called 'Neon Waltz' based in the Far North of Scotland. I shot on the A7s using Samyang Primes, XAVC-S 50mbps 25p for the majority and 50p for the intro stuff so we could slow it to 25p.

The band wanted something a bit different - as I am sure you will see!

I have written a full blog post about how I shot it, along with a little BTS film, on my website... Neon Waltz Sundial Shoot | Dan Mears

Hope you enjoy!

Nice job Daniel. The continuous free form moves in time with the song to the individual members of the group, winding up where you wanted to be with the main vocalists for key moments of the song, did not look easy. Must have been a lot of rehearsing to get it just right. Liked it a lot.

Re: Music Promo shot on the A7s

Thanks for your kind words Ron! I'm glad you liked it!

Yes it did take a lot of rehearsal! We had a pre-light day with rehearsal, we probably ran through the song properly about half a dozen to a dozen times then and then on the shoot evening we did about a dozen takes... I have to say this wasn't my best take from a camera pov but it was the best compromise for camera/band/audience....

It did test my memory and equally my assistant - who was running circles around me with the video tap cable! I pulled my own focus for this job and there where a couple of takes where I was completely off with focus as I couldn't work out where I was/going!

All good fun tho!

Be sure to check out the BTS video on my blog!

Cheers,

Dan
