Converting XAVC-S to prores HQ... any quality/info lost??
Hey guys the only reason I want to do this is because resolve wont read the audio from the XAVC-S stream....
My question is will I lose any information going to ProRes HQ?? |

You shouldn't be picture-wise. XAVC-S is actually 4:2:0 to start with so you're converting to 4:2:2.
Metadata-wise, yes, you will lose your recording metadata if you don't use the appropriate converter. Importing using FCPX should theoretically be able to solve that problem. (Sony's Content Browser requires the Pro version to convert to other formats) |
