Sony A6600 and NX 80 output
I bought a Atomos Ninja V for two reasons 1. to provide a backup recording of my Sony A6600 and 2. I am trying to step up to 4K but in my work (weddings) I cant always use 30p so I was hoping to record 4K30 in the atomos and 1080 60 in the camera. Is that possible? or will the sony only have one or the other?

Re: Sony A6600 and NX 80 output
Not possible I'm afraid. If the NX80 is shooting 1080 60p internally it cannot output 4k 30p at the same time... which is what you are asking I think?. Also, the Ninja V doesn't "convert" on input. It only records what comes in. It can when recording be set up in the menu for a UHD (4K TV) down convert to HD.
I sometimes need 50p 4K out of a Sony Z90 to intercut with an FS7. If I need to do that I just use Resolve and using Resolve's "Superscale" function I upconvert the HD 50p footage to UHD 50p. I then edit with the upscaled UHD in any NLE I want and it looks amazingly good. Alternatively, if you are actually editing in Resolve just apply the Superscale to the HD clips as you edit along the timeline. Then when you output your final master under the delivery tab those HD clips will be Superscaled to UHD. A couple of examples can be seen here. Chris Young |
