HXR-NX80 Question

I recently sold my PXW-X70 and upgraded to the HXR-NX80. I kept all my accessories, but I have noticed one difference. I use an Audio Technica AT875r shotgun mic which has a 21mm diameter. This fit the handle of my X70 perfectly but it is very loose in the NX80. I feel like there was in insert shipped loose with my X70 that you could install if you had the smaller diameter mic. Does anyone know if that was the case and if so, should the NX80 have come with one as well?

If not, does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Also, I'm already using the O-Rings on the AT875r and it's still way loose. It's sagging down into the frame.

Re: HXR-NX80 Question

Interesting. I have an Audio Technica shotgun mic too. (AT897) and has has their O-rings too. Fit's my NX80 and X70 OK. I also have the Sony Shotgun mics too. (forgot the model) but they both have rubber sleeves around them. Sony put them there.

Not 100% sure but I think the handle didn't change and it's the same part number?

Re: HXR-NX80 Question

It doesn't appear the handle is marked with a part number so I'm not sure.

Thanks for the video. If I have to, I will go that route.

The strangest thing is that the exact same mic fit my X70 just fine and is now way loose in the NX80. I can't remember for sure, but I'm almost positive there were two inserts that snapped into the mic adapter in the box for the X70. I could be remembering incorrectly though.

Re: HXR-NX80 Question

There are many solutions. Here is a cheap and most likely free solution.

Go to your local bicycle shop.

Ask them for a discarded bike tube. 700mm work the best.

Cut a piece of rubber the size of the holder

Then cut in half and trim to the size as if wrapped around the microphone.

Place in the holder and this should work.

If not snug enough, you can double up

Works fine for me.
