Info on Sony PXW-X70 in 4k
Hi,
Can somebody who actually owns the camera help me to understand... I am only intetested in 4k. How much is the 4k fw upgrade? Does it have a S-log or other flat profile? What is the highest file profile in 4k? Is 4k output via hdmi? At what quality? 8bit or 10bit 422? Did somebody do extensive tests on OUTPUT 4k, recorded eith Atomos or similar, and compared to oncamera recorded 4k? How does it perform in 4K in low light? I own a Blackmagic BMPC 4k and I need a backup camera to fu run-n-gun jobs (4k or Hd) I can't do with mine but I also want a backup camera for when on my corporate 4K jobs with the BMPC i need a lowlight shot or so. Thanks, Marcello |

Re: Info on Sony PXW-X70 in 4k
Hi,
Can somebody who actually owns the camera help me to understand... I am only intetested in 4k. -- I can answer a few of these... How much is the 4k fw upgrade? -- Usually $500, but sometimes there have been deals in the past Does it have a S-log or other flat profile? -- No, but some of us have used the picture adjustments to get a semi-flat look What is the highest file profile in 4k? --don't know what this means - it does have XAVC-L at 100Mps in 4k Is 4k output via hdmi? --don't know At what quality? 8bit or 10bit 422? -- the only 10 bit 422 on the camera is in HD - 4K is always 8bit 4:2:0 Did somebody do extensive tests on OUTPUT 4k, recorded eith Atomos or similar, and compared to oncamera recorded 4k? -- haven't seen any How does it perform in 4K in low light? -- HD low light is good, not amazing, 4K low light is not quite as good. The sensor is 4K and for HD it is downsized for a good image, but in 4K it's a bit noisier and grain is more evident I bought it as a toe in the water of 4K. In 4K it's good if you avoid rolling shutter situations and low light. In HD it's really excellent for its price category. Hope this helps. |
