No Mono Audio on AX53?
Hi,
As far as I'm aware, mono audio is not an option on the AX53. This would normally be fine except that I find the stereo audio very strange from close proximity. The audio cannot be in the L&R channel at the same time. It dips wildly between the two as if there is this perfect centre point when they would cancel each other out entirely. It's true that this is really only a problem if you speak from behind the camera (so it could be a rear rejection issue) but, with a camera of this type, I do often need to use it in this way. I suppose making a dual mono track of the audio would solve this but I can't help thinking that it shouldn't work like this. Has anyone noticed this? Torsten.

Re: No Mono Audio on AX53?
From the Sony adv blurb:
My Voice Canceling Reduce the intensity of the voice of a user shooting from close behind the camera, whether the user is talking to subjects or cheering them on. So it uses phase cacellation. Perhaps you can turn this off? Alternatively you'd have to buy the XLR adapter and plug in a lapel.. |
