X70 LCD monitor too dark
When I look at the internal color bars the PLUGE area is not distinguishable from black, in Normal or Bright mode. Consequently properly exposed shadow areas look dark and underexposed on the LCD. Is it just my unit or is it the case on others as well?

Re: X70 LCD monitor too dark
This is something I noticed and commented on years ago. You are looking at around 1 stop of underexposure on the LCD. I find that if I properly expose by the LCD, then I will be 3-6db overexposed, meaning I will see excessive grain and noise in my blacks on the output/recording. I have gotten use to this on my X70, and always find my exposure, then back off at least one "click" (3db) on the gain to compensate for what I know the exposure will be on the recording. Always best to expose for highlights on the X70 anyway,a nd raise the blacks and mids in post using the sweet 10bit codecs. Can't recover highlight blowout!
