Anyone used a Panasonic HC-X1000?
As stated in the title - has anyone used a PANASONIC HC-X1000 camera?
I'm looking at buying another 2 camcorders & on paper the X1000 ticks the boxes. Price, 4k, 50p, XLR's, Price etc. Has anyone here physically used one as I'm after a direct comparison between the X1000 & the X70 Cheers! |

I would also check in the Panasonic area of the BB.

Re: Anyone used a Panasonic HC-X1000?
Never used the X1000 but have the X70. They are somewhat different cameras. The Panasonic has a longer zoom but 1/2 inch sensor. The Sony has a 1 inch sensor which will give more depth of field options. Neither would be amazing in low light, but the Sony might have a slight advantage there as well. The Sony has a shorter zoom, but a good quality Clear Image zoom which is a sensor zoom, not a digital one. The 4K on the Sony has just had a free upgrade from 60 to 100 Mps. Oh, and the Sony has XAVC-L, which most would consider a better codec. It also has 10-bit 4:2:2 - but in HD only.

As a HC-X1000 user I can safely recommend not to buy one.

Re: Anyone used a Panasonic HC-X1000?
I've seen posts about the image being way, way dark. No sensitivity. I have used my friend's X70 on some jobs and the gain is very clean and works for low light shooting.

Re: Anyone used a Panasonic HC-X1000?
HC-X1000 has similar sensor to my FDR-AX1, Could be the same sensor !!! My FDR-AX1 low light performance is not good. In good light image is very sharp though and I expect similar performance from the HC-X1000. I had the X70 to demo for a day and did a simple test comparison with my cameras. Results were in a simple point at the same scene test in my living room. NX5U F 1.7 @ 9db, X70 F2.8 @ 24db , NX30U F2.0 @ 18db, FDR-AX1 F1.7 @ 24db. . As you can see the X70 is just a little less sensitive than the older NX30U and less than the NX5U though the NX5U has much more noise. I bought a AX100 in the end rather than the X70 and have since got an AX53. I will wait and see what the AG-UX180 from Panasonic looks like in the fall as a replacement for either the FDR-AX1 and/or the NX5U. With a 1" sensor ( maybe the same Sony sensor !! ) but a 20x optical zoom and 50/60P UHD looks attractive. The X70 needs a firmware update for UHD and then only 24/30P, AX100 and AX53 also only 24/30 P in UHD.
