How to import axvc to media composer 5
Hi folks.
I have just purchased a new PXW X70 and shot footages at XAVC 1920 x1080 60p 50mb/s. I don't know how to import these files to MC5 for editing. Probably MC5 is too old for XAVC codec? Then what format should I export from Catalyst? or Content Browser? Thanks. |

You will need to convert it to DNxHD. MC5 won't handle newer codecs.

On newer versions 7- 8 you can link to XAVC-L using Sony's XAVC/XDCAM plugin. Once you link you can then transcode to a more edit friendly format. Otherwise you'll need to use an external transcoder to render to DNxHD. You'll need something fairly up to date like AME CC, later version of Sorenson, etc. Not sure if XAVC will load up into resolve but that may be a free method to transcode.
