Another X70 4K night ENG video
This forum is slowing down, so I thought I would spice it up with some more night ENG 4K video from my little X70. :)
Shot on my REC709 custom color correction PP settings. |

Paul,
Thanks for this, even on my 2012 iMac 2550 screen it looks stunning, must be even better in 4K. All local lights? the ones provided by the rescue and police?

Re: Another X70 4K night ENG video
Weird lighting, LED's from the fire trucks, plus 3200k headlights, plus that weird 9000k dawn blue sky, and my 4100k camera light! I left it on AWB and pushed global color correction down in the green/yellow area......came out nice I think. I also pulled the highlights up from 100 to 108IRE, because FCPX likes to clamp Sony 4K at 100IRE.....dump NLE. :)

Re: Another X70 4K night ENG video
Paul,
Looks great. I am looking for the noise and not seeing it. I think you've got this camera's image settings dialed in perfectly for what you're using it for. I would have assumed you'd be all hand-held in this situation, but it looks too steady for that... can you confirm handheld or tripod? Mark P.S. I'm sorry, but every time I see one of your videos I can't help but think of the movie "Night Crawler". |

Re: Another X70 4K night ENG video
The lack of noise and grain would be surprising, since I pulled the highlights up 10%, which would have raised mids and added some noise. I also had the detail level set to the maximum +7.
This was shot on a tripod, in pretty decent winds, which is where the wobbles come from! Paul |

Hi Paul, footage looks great. do you happen to have any examples of interview footage, both in the field and in a lit studio enviroment?

No sorry, I shoot 4K rarely, due to need for 60p........30p lips don't look right to me compared to 60p lips for SOT's. :)

Pretty stunning quality for that little camera. Better than I would have expected.
You can post your raw footage any time! Andrew |

Re: Another X70 4K night ENG video
paul-
impressive footage. how would you compare this footage with a sony rx10mk2? this is also a 1" chip but with a new processing engine and a 2.8 fixed lens. i imagine no easy access to xlr audio inputs and the form factor might not work for you but any thoughts on the image quality of the sony rx10mk2? thanks in advance. be well. rob smalltalk.productions |

Never used an RX10 before, can't say. I can say that my A7sII blows this camera out of the water. :)
