AX100 - where does grain start creeping in?
I have shot many weddings with my AX100 and as I edit them, I am seeing vastly different quality video depending on the settings I used, particularly with regard to gain limit.
The time between the wedding shoot and the edit is great enough I have no idea what my settings were at the time I shot. Starting this week I will make a note, for sure. Anyway, I'm editing a wedding I shot and there is virtually no grain in the dark scenes, it' beautiful. I think I limited the gain to probably around 18 or so, but I'm not sure. In places the footage is too dark, but it brightens up in post really well. So, my question is , for grain free footage, where do you find it necessary to limit the gain?

Re: AX100 - where does grain start creeping in?
Just done an unscientific test with my X70 & I concur that the grain levels start to affect the image quality from 18db. 15db & below, the grain is still there but it does not seem to degrade the image quality significantly.

Don't know if its the same with the ax100 but using Catalyst Browse and the x70 it will show you the camera settings. Gain included. j

John, thanks, don't know about Catalyst Browse, haven't used it! I'll check into it.
Paul, thanks for your confirmation, that's what I'll go with today!

Yeah, I would agree with the 18db although you can just about get away with 21db. 21db still looks noticeably better than 12db did on my Sony NX3.
