So all good things must come to an end. Still have mine, it still goes and I shot an oral history on it last week. A pity in a way that the full body cannot be conveniently upgraded to i7 horsepower with two LAN ports for inbuilt 3D.
The motherboard manufacturer does a backpane i7 computer with boards of the same dimensions but the benefit for any developer to redesign the custom backpane for the upgraded computer just is not there. The SI2K main boards were I think also custom mods with the D-Sub audio in/out. Apparently the boards are of a critical standard expected for such things as medical equipment and rail traffic control systems. Offtopic, Canadian Lee Chambers has just wrapped his first feature "The Pineville Heist" in Thunder Bay. There is a fair cast and crew contribution from over this way. |
