Windows xp pro for si2k mini
For using a laptop or desktop for a recorder unit for the SI2K MINI, does anyone have a list or recipe of what needs to be stripped from Windows XP for best performance.
It is proposed to shoot 2048 x 1152 in adaptive mode. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. |

Hi
Actually you dont have to strip down anything for best performance, the only thing influenced is the boot up time. -Kaspar |

Having the right network card correctly setup is about all I've found to matter.
To state the obvious sending emails while recording is not advised. Disabling any drive indexing would be recommended, in fact any service that runs periodically or even ones not required are best turned off. All this can be achieved with them still installed. Outside of Windows itself there's probably a long list of applications that one shouldn't install as they install services that can be fiendishly difficult to prevent from running. |

Thanking you folks for your respective advice.
I had delusions of being able to use the computer I now have rigged for editing as a recorder unit, however it has gone down in a screaming heap and is proving very difficult to resurrect. |
