Remembering where it all started...
From this:
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/alternati...d-project.html . . . to an Oscar . . . if you read through that thread, a lot of familiar names will pop-up . . . Chris, I think you can personally take credit for being the "Godfather" of this movement :) Jason |

Thanks Jason; I'll never forget the day when Steve Nordhauser told me "we're studying this very carefully," in reference to that particular thread. I think it's a very good example which shows what a properly-run internet message board can accomplish, given the variety of creative ideas shared between talented people from all over the planet. In just five years, Silicon Imaging has basically taken text from a bulletin board and produced from it a remarkable digital cinema acquisition system that was instrumental in creating the most honored film of 2008. I think that's amazing. I'm looking forward to congratulating the Silicon Imaging crew in person about two months from now at NAB. Well done, fellows!

Kinetta - by filmmakers, for filmmakers The Kinetta camera has been acknowledged as an inspiration by Jim Jannard at RED. Although, he hasn't got the ergonomics part as yet in his products. I think Kinetta got caught up waiting for a 4k version of the 2/3" chip and events passed them by. |

Thanks for the link Brian. I remember seeing the pics from NAB in 2004. Can't believe it was five years ago!
