University promo film
I have finally got clearance from the client to post some of the videos I made this summer. I'll be posting
them up here over the next few days. Shot mostly on the FS700 with a few shots from my B camera the VG20. All internal AVCHD. Enough talk, here is the first video: I wrote up a blog post about this project (with more to come soon) on my blog here: Digital cinema in the last frontier |

Re: University promo film
There are some nice shots. I liked it but it seems like for this kind of outreach I think a narrative would have been more compelling.
Well done. |

Chuck,
You may very well be right. Maybe it shows my lack of script writing ability. |

Damn nice work. I like the fact is has a challenge in it (what about you) without a lot of rhetoric. Maybe a good way to reach kids that need it. You let the images speak.

Re: University promo film
FYI, I was in this spot a few years ago and have since partnered up with a writer, and my work has come a long way. We struggled in the beginning but pushed through it and 1) I hate writing, and the stuff that needs written I no longer have to write, 2) We bid on stuff that needs writing, instead of me writing it off as "I hate writing", 3) Even the stuff that doesn't necessarily need writing, I now have someone to say "have a look at this" and it benefits from a second pair of eyes. I left TV affiliateland where I had dozens of colleagues to look at stuff and had never realized how many good ideas came from someone poking their head in an edit bay to say "what if you re-worked that to put this other part first".
