According to Alaska Fisheries, the 2012 Sitka Sound Herring Sac Roe Fisheries will be the largest fisheries of it's kind on record, with record breaking Pacific Herring returns, and catch quota.

For those interested in filming this annual event, the herring fishery usually takes place between March 10th and April 5th.
