PBS Documentary on Typography and Design Shot on HDSLR

We just released the newest episode that we shot with PBS for the series "Off Book" (you may have seen our first one all about light painting).

This one's all about typography, design, infographics and more. We interviewed some awesome people including Hoefler & Frere-Jones who have designed some of the most iconic types in the world.

Shot this on the Canon EOS 7D, 5Dmkii and the T3i. All the ext. B-roll was shot on a Canon 7D with a Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS lens. Beautiful lens.

Would love to know what you all think!

Enjoyed the shot of skateboarder. You have much trouble with moire on that invisible typeface fold-up gizmo?

Nice work! Couldn't have guessed it was shot on a DSLR. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah moire is generally tricky when shooting with the HDSLRs but in the case of that invisible folding piece it was strange because the piece itself was an optical illusion and difficult to read/see.

Thanks! These cameras are so powerful. And awesome for running around and shooting with since they're so small.

Hy Morgan!:)

I liked the general feel of the film. The editing is generally o.k., didn't like the overall picture stile - to contrasty for my taste (bring up the black a little bit), some of the talking heads could have been placed more to the right (they are to central in my opinion). Sound design is maybe a little quirky:)

What does it for me is the general mood/feeling and the aesthetics of it. Oh and I liked how you introduce people. It would have been cool though if the names were "3D".

Overall it's a nice short:)
