Look inside our volcano!
This is not my work, but wanted to share this because it is very interesting to watch our Earth grow and change every day, in real time! Kilauea has been erupting since 1984. You're looking at a live collage of cameras situated at the edge of Puu O`o Crater, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It's better to see this at night.
http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/hvo/cams/POcam/ Here is a look inside Halemaumau Crater, on the summit of Kilauea. This camera is outfitted with infrared so it can peer through the gas and smoke. You're looking into a crater about 500 feet deep! http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/hvo/cams/HMcam/ Take a look at these day and night. Last edited by Warren Kawamoto; June 5th, 2011 at 12:55 PM. |

Re: Look inside our volcano!
This is a quicktime timelapse movie that shows the entire crater floor collapsing. This would be scary if you were right there! Try scrolling through the footage with your mouse.
