"Intrinsic Self" - 5DmkII fire performance documentary
This is a short documentary on members of the San Francisco Bay area fire performance community. We made this a couple of months ago for a 7-day filmmaking competition - of course, our first project fell through, so we made the whole thing in the last two days! We won best editing in the competition.
Shot on a 5DmkII (lenses detailed on Vimeo page), audio via Countryman B6 into H4n and synced with Pluraleyes in FCP. Intrinsic Self on Vimeo

Great job.
The first 5D footage I see that hasnīt got that strong "5D signature" to it. Gives me hope that one can work with that camera without anyone and his kid brother saying "yeah, shot on a 5D" Also love that lower thirds with that different fire swooshes on them. Frank |

Thanks, I never really thought about whether it had a "5D" look or not. The lower thirds were kind of luck - one of our team members was shooting stills with a borrowed camera and didn't realize it how low a shutter speed it was running. She got some really spectacular shots so we figured we'd use them to give the lower thirds a unique look.
We actually had a lot of material we couldn't fit into this one so we're currently looking into shooting a feature length doc on the subject.
