Shooting in a Guatemalan Prison

This is a teaser for a longer piece that I'll finish up late summer / early fall.
The final piece will only be about 5-10 minutes

Very nice. I liked your music and subtle backgrounds. Nice mix with of Jesus and 18. Too bad the finished piece won't be longer. From this trailer, I would watch more.

Very nice footage. Great to see what one can do with a 35mm adapter. Makes me lean towards getting a Canon 5D mkII over the HMC-150.

Hank - just for reference, I shot this with a Canon XH A1 with an SGBlade adapter. We used Nikon zooms (17-35 2.8 and a 35-70 2.8) which I really, really liked. in the past, I used just fast primes, but these zooms really make life a lot easier, especially when doing documentary work where you need to make quick changes on the fly. You pay a lot for the (at least the 17-35) but they are well worth it.

I really enjoyed that and get envious of the lenses and add on gear used to produce great images.
How did you get access into this area?

Hi, It looked like good footage and I would like to see the full version of this when it is finished. It reminded me of something on a similar topic, a documentary I saw called 18 with a bullet or something like that followed some gangs in El Salvador, absolutely unreal to see some of the stuff that goes on in some of these places, total shameless evil.

I think I read recently that over one hundred bus drivers have been murdered in Guatemala this year alone just because they would refuse to pay off gang thug extortion "protection money", and that is not even mentioning all the other thousands who are murdered there and in El Salvador by Maras every year, certain places in some of these countries are absolute war zones.
