I would like comments on my Doc at AM With Martin on Vimeo
Had a lot of trouble with focus when I went to full screen on my Mac (OS 10.5) I reshot and tested for focus but result was the same. When I burned DVD image was cropped and blurred. I'll take this up W/Apple. I made a lot of photography mistakes, first time out with an XL1S. Ed Space

ignoring the focus issues I thought it was shot well. The Shots kept me interested visually while the narration had a nice flow that I was able to follow.
One thing to check on the XLs is the back focus. That may be off and causing you some issues. Your Manual will tell you the proper steps to set it. A few suggestions I would have is to make the music transitions a little more gradual as they seem abrupt. Also A pop filter in front of your mic for nations to make the P sounds not pop so much. I have seen people using a Sewing bracket and some Nylon to make one on the cheap. Nice work.

Thanks Josh, good advice and I will use it on my current film. I want to produce a film for competition and will take all the advice I can get.

Nice little doc, made me wander if there would be a PM part, as I wouldn't mind watching that too.

While watching I felt as though it was a documentary piece for that old PBS show Electric Company. I know the subject matter isn't for children, but the overall presentation seemed so innocent and observational that the feeling stuck with me. Even if you weren't going for that effect, I think it turned out well. The audio could use some help as the pops and rustling mike noise tend to take the viewer out of the experience.
My 2 cents. |
