With Premiere (I use v6) I found it very difficult working with large clips. Its performance is very slow compared to VV. So when I had to do quick editing, like taking clips out of the raw footage, I did non-precise work in Vegas to get the footage down to what I needed. I made an EDL in my head basically when I was working in Vegas. If I knew Vegas better than I knew Premiere, I might have done all my precise editing in Vegas too.

With Premiere I just know the program better and once I had the clips edited down, I could do my precise editing. Also, being able to export the project right to After Effects was useful.

Near the end, because I was doing so many transitions and effects in AfterEffects, I found I made all my final editing just in AE. I really like AE's interface.
