Question about the Mini Rover
I really want to buy the Mini Rover for my GL2 to use as a support for handheld shots and to hold a mic, but I'm curious as to how the Mini-Mate works with it. The Mini-Mate would be great to hold a wireless mic receiver also, but from the pictures, it seems like it covers up the hot shoe on the Mini Rover, preventing you from using a shotgun mic on the Mini Rover and a wireless receiver on the Mini Mate at the same time.
Does anyone know for sure, if you can use this setup to hold both a wireless receiver and shotgun mic at the same time? Also, if I were to use the Mini Mate, it appears that it would mount the receiver horizontally, instead of vertically. I thought I had read somewhere that radio mics should be mounted vertically to get the best pickup? Is that correct? Thanks

Chris, I can't answer you specific question but I can say that I looked at the products your mentioning and deciding to buy a still camera flash bracket from B&H. To me, it does the same job, and my flash bracket was about $10. I have it hooked up to hold a shotgun and a wireless mic.
Not sure if that helps but it is worth looking at. |
