Alternative to Fig Rig?
Advice please ... I'm using an FX1e and want to invest in a support to aid movement shots.
Interested in the Fig Rig, but have come across this alternative in the UK ... HAGUE Pro-Camframe Any views / users out there? Thanks! |

I don't see why it wouldn't work, it operates on the same principle. Seen lots of "hardware store specials" people have made up with the same basic design.
I myself use a "mini" rig cobbled up from a couple flash brackets for my small cameras, and am happy with the results - the key is getting the center of gravity "outside" the camera a bit, and since we are all used to steering a car and keeping it straight/turning, the operation comes pretty naturally. I find it works quite well for moving shots once you practice a bit, but can get a bit tough if you try to "stand still" - the design lends itself to smoothing motion, but like many other steady concepts, can get a bit tough to hold in a static shot. Mainly a factor of arm fatigue. |
