Multirig Pro
So I'm thinking of getting a Multirig pro to shoot wedding receptions with. I normally use a mono pod but thinking the multirig will give me more control over my shots, being able to move and so forth without the jerk of picking up and setting down the mono pod. I was getting pretty good results using the mono pod and was getting pretty good using the mono pod as a boom to get good overhead shots at the reception. I'm wondering how tall the multirig extends to?

Booming is probably the only thing that teh MiltiRig Pro doesn't do well.
You can boom inf your have a step stool to stand on, but for booming shots, you are still best served using a monopod. But for everything else the Multi Rig ROCKS. I sue it for an entire days wedding shoot, and get great steady shots and fantastic floating camera shots. I'll shoot a ceremony (2 cameras, one in back) shooting up the aisle (on the grooms side), until bride is handed off. then place the entire rig on my preset tripod (using the tripod mounting bracket), until the recessional. this is when I simply remove the rig from the tripod, snap the support pod back in and I'm off again. For the reception, I'm ALL Multi Rig, form the intros until the last dance. I change configuratiosn accordingly, but for the most part I use the support pod and pouch, and run in shoulder mode, but leave the back bar loose. This gives me nice supports and freedom to boom, dutch, pan accordingly with no issue what so ever. |

how tall does it boom though? Overhead? It sounds like it would be a great tool for weddings.

I love the mutlirig. Having used full sized cameras for many years it's very close to the feel of one except my moving shots are better. As for booming,
i never really measured it but I can only get the unit up off my shoulder about 10 inches. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but that's about it for me. Going low is a lot easier. Over all it's a great tool. Don |
