Re: New lenses for Panasonic G7
I will concur with Noa that the 15mm and 42.5mm f/1.7's are my go to lenses for nearly everything now.
I picked up the 15mm used for $280 and the 42.5mm new last fall for $299 when it came up on...

Re: G7 now at $500
I would concur with the others that if you like the look of the pocket cam, neither the G7 or GH4 will appeal that much.
I have been watching some samples with the G7 and like the G6 that I have...

Re: 10, 10.5, 12 or 15mm for the GH4 in 4K ???
I ended up getting a Samyang 12mm f/2 for Christmas !!!
I haven't had a chance to properly use it yet, but so far from the few little clips I've tested it on, it's a great lens for $300.

10, 10.5, 12 or 15mm for the GH4 in 4K ???
Having a terrible time deciding between these for my next lens.
I already have the 17mm f/1.8, 25mm f/1.4, 42mm f/1.7 and the 100-300 zoom.
The 17mm Olympus is a fine lens, but a 42mm equiv is...

I've used these on my GH4 and they work perfectly with the solution they sell.

Re: Gh4 with stock olympus lenses
The e400 is a 4/3rds mount camera. Those lenses won't directly fit on the GH4. You would need a 4/3 to m4/3 adaptor to get them to work. I have no personal experience with those adaptors, but I've...

Re: GH4 in the Wilderness
I also use the inexpensive software. In my case it's Movie Studio 13 and it is a dream with 4K on a box store Asus i7 920 from 2010. You can get that one for $100 - $120 I think with all the suite...

Re: GH4 Doesn't Auto-Focus Worth #$@!
My testing with a 17mm Oly lens in 4k on a stabilizer is that the cam wants to back focus on the background even when the subject fills more than 2/3rds of the frame when it is moving with you. I...

Re: Lens for Panasonic GH4.
These are the two lenses I use most often. You need to have both. This brings us back to my very first post here, a wide and a portrait lens that are fast enough f-stop to work in lower light are...

Re: Lens for Panasonic GH4.
If I were new to filming with the GH4 and had to pic a first lens for weddings on a budget, I'd get a 42.5mm f/1.7. Then I'd add an Olympus 12mm f/2.0 and a stabilizer for my second choice.
A...

Re: Custom Profiles for GH4?
I have also had issues with bright scenes clipping hard like that when shooting 0-255. I found that the harsh over exposure on top with bright clouds and other super bright objects is cleaner when...

Re: Panasonic G7
The GH4 has 100mbps 1080-60p in ETC mode and it has 96fps slow motion. These are two functions I use all the time over my G6.
With that said, the G6 creates an incredibly appealing image in...

Sorry can't speak to file sizes in RAW format between cams. I only have one night time milky way timelapse in RAW. Those are 19megs each and have an incredible amount of detail in the sky with all...

Re: raw image size 16MBs
I believe you're mistaking the terminology for RAW images with mega pixel sensor size. 12 bit is the color depth (4096 possibilities) per pixel of the raw file and 16 megabits is the number of photo...

Re: GH4 in full manual only
Why can't you test it?
The only way mine goes dead on the switch is if I'm in FPS override to shoot 96 fps. That's why I asked about that above.
If you are in one of the regular video modes...

Re: GH4 in full manual only
Remember FPS override is also manual focus only. I've forgotten that a few times and missed focus on shots I wish I had back. From there I've found that AFS during recording almost always focuses...

Re: Lenses and headshots
I'd check into a vintage 50mm f/1.4 lens and an adaptor to fit to your GH4. They can often be found for $50 + a $20 adaptor. They make for incredible head shots with the right separation and...

Re: editing C4K movs from GH4
MS13 actually does edit in C4K mov just fine, but it is quite clunky. MP4 seems to be quite a bit easier to play back.
In any case a $800 PC with some $79 software can do in a pinch if the...

Re: Wide and fast for low light
The crop factor in 4K UHD is actually 2.49x as has been spoken about often on many of the forums.
I use a 17mm f/1.8 on a stabilizer quite often and like Noa says, it's very difficult to use with...
