Re: Blood, Milk and Sky
Trent, thanks for you thoughts. I don't disagree with you, but this was a spur of the moment project. I happened to have some extra gear from a "real" shoot, and I thought I'd take advantage of...

Blood, Milk and Sky
Folks, I shot his six months ago. It's been a pet project, so it took a while to do all of the post work. Please check it out and comment, good or bad, I don't care. Of course, I hope you like it.

Chris,
The downgrade worked, and I have AJ's firmware installed.
Thanks for your help.
I was hired to do a three camera interview next week. The extra cameras arrive tomorrow. I have to...

Re: Magic Lantern 0.1.6 release
I just updated to the new Canon firmware 2.0.9. Now ML won't load onto my 5D. Is there a work around? Or am I stuck. I miss the audio meters while filming.

Re: Technicolor Cinestyle Initial Tests
Justin,
Thanks for your response. This is good information to know. I'm renting two addition cameras for a shoot, and I wasn't sure if I could just manually adjust the style setting or if I have...

Re: Technicolor Cinestyle Initial Tests
Forgive my ignorance, but I have a couple questions about this Cinestyle thing.
Is there a difference between loading the profile onto the camera and manually setting the sharpness, contrast and...

I found this computer controlled slider that is at a reasonable price. I'm tempted, but I'm not sure if this time lapse thing is just going to be a passing phase for me.

Just for sh!ts and giggles, you can download it from Vimeo and see if it plays more smoothly.

Re: Time Lapse
Folks,
Here's the latest.
I shot it in Manual mode, f22 @ 1/6, ISO 160, with 5 seconds between shots. Also, I shot RAW photos instead of jpegs
It plays back perfectly smooth on my computer....

Re: Time Lapse
Jon,
When you bracket, the file names are sequential, so if you shoot a new still ever 8 seconds, that's 450 stills (per hour) per exposure level, or 1350 stills in total. How do you get them...

Re: Time Lapse
Jon, what are you using to control your camera when shooting time lapse? The EOS Utility, doesn't seem to allow me to shoot bracketed shots, when using the timer option in the software. Perhaps I am...

You're a fountain of knowledge. I'll keep testing and posting the results.
BTW, there was a weird thing that popped into the top of the frame on a couple images. After careful inspection,...

Folks,
I did another test, though not at sunset.
I followed Jon's suggestion:
I set my aperture, and while holding down the DOF button, I twisted the lens a bit to break communication...

Re: Time Lapse
Jon,
That's a great idea for Canon. When the 5DM2 first came out, they used to have a site where you could post suggestions. I don't know if it still exists. They probably never looked at it...

Re: Time Lapse
Liam,
This makes sense. I was just wondering how I'd handle the exposure in manual mode, when the shutter speed goes from 1/1000 to 1/50 over the course of the hour.
Practice, practice,...

Jon,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I'll try your ideas and share the results. I have clouds today, so perhaps it will at least look better instead of a bunch of haze.

Time Lapse
I just did my first time lapse test. I had my laptop hooked up to the camera, shooting a new still every 8 seconds. I ran it for an hour.
The camera was set to Aperture Priority, f10

Spoof of Wrangler commercial
We shot this spoof ad in 90 minutes. We had two 5DM2 bodies and for most shots we used 17-35mm (older lens), 16-35mm, and 24-70mm.
Because the light was going down it was tough to maintain the...
