Canon ZR-1000 zoom controller died

over the weekend while shooting.

Canon will not fix it, so it's useless in its present condition.

At this point I need to make a quick decision and purchase something to replace it.

A quick search online yielded few online e-tailers/choices and very little (if any) price spread in regard to Canon alternatives.

What do you use since the ZR-1000/2000 are 5-6 years old?

Anything out there comparable or better from other manufacturers or did Canon update these and introduce other models?

Of course compatibility with the A1 and A1s is crucial.

Is the extra $150 bucks for the ZR-2000 worth it?

All thoughts and input welcomed.

Thanks in Advance.
