Alternative to Canon Console software?
I tried Canon Console 1.1 a while ago and while I was very impressed with its potential, in practice I found it to be very problematic (in particular, it would often stop displaying the image on its monitor and require uninstall/install). I did not pursue it and used OnLocation instead.
Now I need to remote-control my XH-A1 mounted on a crane, but I see that Canon Console support seems to have been abandoned without an update and I don't particularlly feel like troubleshooting the problem I experienced on different machines. Is there software out there that'll let me operate zoom and focus remotely on the XH-A1? I've thought of using a lanc remote, but it's pretty limited in scope. Thanks. J. |

Having used both LANC and Console to remotely operate zoom and focus, I would have to say that LANC is far more preferable. Canon's ZR-2000 wired remote LANC controller isn't limited in scope by any means... it duplicates the zoom speed control found on the XL H and XH series bodies, and offers focus assist capabilities as well as exposure control.
