With the introduction of the EX1 and Z7 I would think the Z1 would start surfacing soon. Or, hopefully, the price at BH will drop a bit.

I've owned both the azden and the shure systems. I would consider the shure a step above the azdens in build and performance. The shure is however still a VHF system so it comes with frequency limitations. I never used it at great distances only line of sight short range stuff. The only way to know for shure would be to test it out in your application.
