Hi Michael,
I'm interested in how this turned out. You're saying you will attempt to replace the firewire port on the camera? Very curious in what that would involve. |

Hi Eric, still working it out, have not received the camera back yet to try it out, still have to order the part, but it appears it will only cost me $50 + shipping and it looks like it will be easy to do.

FS: Miller DS-10 2 Stage
I'm thinking of selling my Miller DS-10 setup. It's the aluminum kit and has the 2 Stage head. I paid around $1,400 for it not long ago and hardly used it. Used it maybe 4 times. Have recipt for proof and orginial box. It's good as new.
Asking $1,200 Please, no lowball offers. |

It's almost certainly a FW issue as the folks here are describing. FX1s - I've been through three of these with the same problems. Same guy supplied the FW board fix too! Can't tell you how many oxford FW chipsets have been blown at work by hot swapping or by faulty cables - but I have a stack of at least 20 dead FW HDD cases I can show you. This has to be one of the largest cases of "trouble? there's no trouble here" that's ever been around the computer communities. Nobody on the manufacturing side acknowledges any design issues at all. Me, I use FW800 almost exclusively these days, and always power down before I dis/connect any FW400 plug. Call me paranoid, but I figure I'm already over a thousand repair/replace dollars into this "non-issue". HTH Cheers C |

Well right before Thanksgiving I installed the windows update and I had to restart...well it hasn't restarted since. I tried putting in the recovery DVD's and reformatting...it would do about 50% and then stop. I took out the harddrive and was able to get the information off the harddrive...it worked just fine copying the files off to an external drive. But my brain could not figure out what was wrong with my once super computer.

hmmm, i actually think this has happened to me once before, this is a small factor that you could have thought of or just over looked, have you tried ust putting in another hard drive that is already windows installed? or just a blank one and installing it with the computer? I'd hate to see such a good computer go to waste!
