it cost $500 in the US, and it is a firmware upgrade done at the factory. All the new HD canon XL and
XH series are upgrade-able to shoot in both NTSC and PAL format. Most pro cam and the sony Z1 can shoot in both NTSC and PAL, there is no loss in quality whatsoever. I am sure canon UK would be able to upgrade this for you as well and maybe they have a different pricing. |

Hey Mat,
Being that you are a UWOL guy, and an XL2 owner as I recall, I must say that this is probably the worlds greatest wildlife camera... There I said it. Seriously, when you consider the resolution, robust design, lens quality, HD-SDI out option, controls at your fingertips and the 7.2 magnification factor... It's pretty damn tough to beat.
