Hi...
Yes....with so little use, I was surprised at needing service, but the unit was recently giving an error message....eject cassette, re-insert cassette....I took it into my local Sony Authorized Dealer, Video Tech in San Gabriel Valley....who isolated the issue to the tiny (smaller than diameter of a dime) plastic (yes, totally plastic) gear which had a small crack in it, causing play in the transport operation. He replaced that with the identical part from Sony, while inspecting and servicing the entire unit.... --total invoice $265, 2 wk later. I will be able to post pictures later this evening when I return, by say, 7PM Pacific Time, and I can include the phone number of the Owner who serviced the unit, and my other 2 cameras (Z5U and Z1U and HDR-HC1) over the past 10 years... I am confident this FX-1 will now provide the service these units are known for... I will PM you with my phone if you would care to talk during the day...
