Whats the difference between the MX5000 and the PVDV953 brand new for $1079 U.S. with english menu? Is the 5000 that much better?

Bill...I wasn't trying to say that you were lying or anything like that, I was just giving more info on the dsr-11.

Mike-
your input is welcome but your information is incorrect , the panasonic handles both pal & ntsc, and I did state that it does not record to dvcam but will play back both formats. I think I tried to be clear about the differences in the 2 units. If one needs the ability to record to DVCAM then the DSR-11 is the deck to buy. thanks Bill |

The difference? The skin tone and the ability to use the all-weather housing. So some knobs and dials may be slightly different.

I think Alan was saying a month or so ago that the mx5000 could be had for cheaper than that... but its all about the exchange rate...

Price reduction: $995.00 US including shipping to anywhere in lower 48. For current, comparable prices see:1) ebay # 3814708691 at $ 1512.31 US (PAL version from australia) and 2) ebay # 3814580143 at $ 1822.69 US (PAL version from UK). both are plus shipping and do not have UV filter and hip battery. Last 2 items cost US $250 alone.
