I'd still recommend the internet. The most honest would be b@hphoto and the shipping is free.

Sony 1.7x High Grade Telephoto Converter Lens
I bought this 58mm screw on lens in January from B&H when putting my new PD170 package together. I have since found a deal on a Century Optics bayonet mount lens so the Sony is now for sale.
The lens has been on my camera once for a few test shots only and is flawless in condition. Includes Sony lens pouch, front and rear lens covers. Sells for $249.95 at: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...=200953&is=REG I'll ship it to a US address insured and well packaged for $185 firm.

Thanks guys for your input- B&H i do agree offers great service but i'm not entirely convinced that the added costs of goods shipped to canada- esp single orders and not in bulk is worth the import taxes etc
Lorne Laplen looks good altho from their webpage i don't see the Rode brand being advertised - i'll be giving them a call tho to see if they may have any other selections besides those on their website

Is the Lightwave Mini-Mount the fixed diameter type (specifically made for the XL-1(S) mic) or is it the one with the adjustable clamp that will hold various diameters of mics?

You should only have to pay PST/GST when it reaches the border, just like if you bought it here. Some shipping companies charge a brokerage fee, depending on what rate of shipping you choose. If you want to order from B&H, there are plenty of us Canucks here who will talk you through it. It's pretty painless. And with our dollar kicking ass against the USD, it's a pretty viable option.
