hmmm... don't think I'd want to trade my PD150, but I am very interested in *why* you would want to trade. I am not as familiar with the XL1s, so I guess I'm interested in your thoughts.

I am heading off to S.E. Asia and China for 6-8 months. I am backpacking the whole trip, so my XL1s is a little cumbersome to pack up in to a back pack. If I was not in need of a smaller form factor I would by no means consider selling my cam. The optics on my 16x manual lens are astonishing, yet this new pursuit is just not fit for the ol' girl. Plus, I can get past permits for filming with a smaller form factor. That's about it, just need a smaller cam with comparable resolution.

How old is your XL1s? How many hours on the drum, approximately?

Bloom, I will be heading off to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, and Various provinces of China. I am starting in Hanoi.
Galinato, The cam has appproxiamately, and this would be a guess, no more than 50 hours and that is trying to be honest. the cam is around two years old according to the serial, yet I purchased it new last December. It has never been transported around except by the pelican and has been used primarily on dollies and sticks, very little hand held or field use. I do not use the cam as my deck, and it has performed flawlessly since my purchase. Cheers, Dick Steele Frondeur Films |

Lights/Monitor/Mic/Deck etc. FS
Hey guys,
I'm starting film school tomorrow, so I probably won't be needing any of my gear for the next couple of years. I haven't had time to sit down and really price everything out, but I've tried to put ballparks where I could and I'm open to offers. Everything is in "very good" to "like new" condition except where noted below... Barring any interest here, I'll probably just start sticking things on ebay in a week or two... (btw-I'd be open to trades as well... Since I've already sold my XL1 and sticks, I'm currently camera-less, and am in the market for a good 1-chip for personal use. It'd also help with the taxes ;-)) 1) Samson UM1/UT1L/MT350 (U2) Wireless lav system - All equipment is in excellent condition. (Note: There is a square piece of velcro on the back of the receiver that I used to attach it to my XL1. I would assume this could come off if it was not needed) - Purchased early 2002 from B&H Photo for $320 + ship. I'm looking to get something in the low-to-mid $200's for this system. 2) Sony PVM-8044q 5" Field Monitor - Includes 1 Sony NP-1A battery pack - This is the precursor to the 8045q and has the same 450-lines of resolution - Switchable 4:3 / 16:9 Aspect Ratio - Supported Modes: Underscan, Blue Only, A/B and RGB/Y R-Y B-Y Switch, Line/RGB Switch, Sync Int/Ext Switch, H/V Delay - Control Knobs: Aper, Bright, Chroma, Phase, Contr, Volume - Purchased used in April 2003 - Price for this would be in the high $400 / low $500 range 3) Sony WV-DR5 DV/VHS Deck (probably will sell this, but not positive) - This is a really awesome deck if you haven't seen it. It was only sold in Japan and has recently been discontinued, so they go for an arm and a leg now on ebay. I had a friend track one down for me in Hiroshima, and this was the only one he could find. Anyway, if you're looking for a DV deck, this was in my opinion the absolute best option available less expensive than the Sony DSR series. I've got some links somewhere to reviews I found online when I was looking if you're interested. Anyway... - Dual-Deck - accepts miniDV and full size DV on one side, VHS on the other. - Fully compatible with pretty much any edit system as far as I know. - Only records to DV, but will read DV and DVCAM - There are too many specs to go into, but if you're interested I'd be happy to chat about it. - Purchased new in October/November of 2002 - Currently selling in the $1500 range if you can find them. I'd probably be looking for something in the $1000 or slightly over range... 4) Lowel light kit - Almost brand new - just purchased April 2003 from Showcase in Atlanta, so I think it's still under warranty... - Includes: - 1 Omni-light w/ 500watt bulb and 4-way barndoors - 1 Tota-light w/ 750watt bulb and frame - 1 Pro-light w/ 250watt bulb and 4-way barndoors - 3 Bogen/Manfrotto stands (much sturdier than the Uni's that were supposed to come with the kit) - 2 Tota frames - 2 Tota gel packs (include CTB, diffusion, ND, etc.) - 1 Tota-brella (umbrella) - Soft carry-case (LB-35) with dividers that holds everything pretty comfortably - My cost was around $1100. I'd probably be looking to get $7-800 or so... I'd be open to offers. 5) Westcott Backdrop Stand and "Canberra" (Dark Grey) 10x12 Backdrop - These were purchased from Wolf Camera's 14th Street location in Atlanta in April 2003 - Stand is sturdy black: includes 2 (9' or 10'?) stands (similar to light stands) and a 3-piece crossbar that extends to about 12'. - Stand comes with a very hand carry-case with strap. - Backdrop is a backdrop - not much else to say... - Both are in perfect condition, only used about a half-dozen times. - Both new are close to $300. Maybe looking for mid to high $100's... 6) Sony 13" Trinitron Edit Suite monitor - This is pretty much just an older Sony TV. It's in good shape and looks nice, but doesn't have any special tuning capabilities. - $50-$75 Holler back if you're interested in anything or have any other questions. I tried to include everything I could think of though... Matt Pope Summerset Productions |
