I quite understand but think how new and improved your next rig will be. BTW, let me know by e-mail who the lucky owner of your rig was. You know, european or the west?

DVX100?

Will yours fit on the Panasonic DVX100? I know Cavision has a matte box on their website pictured on a DVX100 just wondering if yours will fit this camera too...

Pro Mist Filters

I have heard different people mention these types of filters...what are they used for. Somebody told me to get a 1/2 black pro mist filter when I got my new camera.

that would be a good question to ask Cavision becasue I have no clue. I do know this matte box is extremely adjustable so it very well may be... but I think an email to them would be better than guessing.

I will see if I can get a quick response out of them.

So Cosmin, what do you have planned for your new rig?

I remember the separation anxiety I experienced when I moved on from each of my early rigs (Model 1, Model 3)--of course, I didn't build them from scratch, so I'm sure it's even harder to wave goodbye in that instance.

BTW, you and Charles and others interested should check out the MK-V website after Cinegear is over (this weekend)--the unveiling of their Alien Revolution is touted to be the biggest thing to happen to Steadicam since--well, Steadicam! Essentially it's a 4 lb addition to the rig that self-levels the horizon; no more unwanted roll...and it even lets you turn the rig upside down while keeping the camera level, allowing you to go from high mode to low mode within the shot, or even flying the rig horizontally. Pretty wild stuff. And of course priced like a well-appointed car, but that's not surprising!

You made me curios about the new "Alien Revolution". I'll sure check it out!

Well, on my first rig I worked and learned about a year and a half. I went back and forth with some ideea and compromise. Now this new rig should be more stright forward to make. On the first stanilezer, for example, I start designing and building parts for a 3A look alike arm. I finished doing something more like the PRO concept... Another thing is that I qind of exagerated with metal thickness and such, just to be sure it will hold. It does hold! Is preaty sturdy, it holds allot of camera weight, but it weights about 22Kg without the camcorder!
I want to make a lighter one, even if doesn't hold 8Kg of camercorder.

Something really worth ehile Charles. Thanks for the tip. Can't wait to see it.
BTW Charles, how come you've never visited our forum, since you last posted (way back), to lend us some of your wisdom in the stabilizing field? We have one steadicam operator ( Constantine, a really big help, I must say) who is a constant member. Just wondered.

I think the Panasonic uses a different mounting plate for the rods.... I do remember seeing a few different plate models to suit different manufacturers.

Hi Annie,

I have a Tiffen black promist2- 72mm filter that I paid $150CDN, that I only used on one shoot about two years ago. I think that the shipping charges from Canada to Athens would be quite high, but let me know if you are interested.

Would you be interested in just selling the Power 2000 battery alone?

Ryan, the Power2000 batt isn't an expensive item......I prefer to sell everything in one deal-

I found out there's now a tele-extender available for the Panasonic DVC80 and DVX100 and would like to try the Pan again this time with the extender-but can't justify having both cameras...

I'm 100% satisfied with the GL2- but I had a DVX100 not too long ago and got rid of it strictly based on the limited zoom- but the form factor and large LCD were excellent- the video quality was better than my XL1S- so If i could give that model a try again with the extender I'd be really interested....I could be making a mistake but i'm adventurous and love to try new things.
