You can look up on the Sony DCR VX 3. It's the only Hi8 3CCD camera. It runs for about 500 - 600 on Ebay. I've never used one, but I'm sure the quality can't be worse than VSH-C. Check it out.

Yea, I figured there must be an analog 3ccd chip camera that you could afford. That's your best bet most likely.

If that's your budget, look for a Canon Optura Pi. It's a single chip camera, but apparently one of the best ever made. ANd you should be able to get a used one for $500-ish.
I don't think you will find even a GL1 for less than $1100.

I think you are better off with a newer single chip miniDV camera than an older 3 chip analogue camera.
If you consider going analogue, then check out Canon L1 and L2 cameras. I believe they were 3 chip Hi-8 cameras, with interchangable lenses, as an alternative to a Sony VX3.

I agree about that older Canon L1 and L2. Back inthe day that camera was the shiznit. Ebay has them for CHEAP!!!
I'm not knowledgable about what they improved on the L2 since the L1, but both are on Ebay right now at great prices. |

Thanks... |

3CCD for sale you might like
Hi Ken,
I am about to move up to an XL1s or GL2. I have an older Sony VX3 3CCD (pred to VX1000) with many extras I would like to sell. Please email me at lagniappedeaux@yahoo.com for photos and details if interested. I'm in your price range. The VX3 is certainly not up there with the newer cameras but it's a great way to go "in the meantime" with a good clean image. This cams were used during the first Gulf War and had a great track record. Mine was serviced by Sony and brought back "into spec" before I shelved it. Have kept as a backup but no longer using. Anyway...this may help. Let me know. |

Canon GL2
Hey All -
I love my GL2 and have thought about getting an XL1-S. If I ***were*** to offer to sell my GL2, what would it get with the following accessories? - GL2, low hours - 10 or less - MA-300 XLR Mic Adaptor - WD-58h Wide Angle Lense - The mini Canon Light Vi10? - 1 Sony shotgun Mic w/ phantom pwr. - 1 Azden shotgun mic w/ self supplied pwr. - Still under warrenty - bought in Dec 02. - 1 home built camera stabelizer - like the Glidecam 2000 pro, but done in a machine shop, with gimbal. Works great. Any info on this would be great. - AR |

You're the seller why don't you start off with like (for educational purposes only) $2500 obo? I would like pictures of the glide cam and the plans if you don't mind.

Not a problem. I am still not sure if I want to sell. I am more curious if there is a resonable market for it, if it depreciated a lot or of they hold their value.
As for the camera stabelizer... I do not have the plans anymore but would be happy to provide pics. On that note, if I do decide to sell, I would provide numerous pics of every item I listed. Thanks again. |
