Help with a Sekonic L-508 cine meter at DVinfo.net

I have a used one that I got locally on approval, the meter seems to work normally but I am unable to set the shutter speed in still or the F/S in cine modes. Since these are the only things not working, I'm wondering, Could this be me?
Is there some esoteric trick to doing this? I've followed the manual and the meter will never show the [T] function so you can set those, everything else, but not that.
One of you old hands able to help?
