Your LEDs can be used as key lights just like any other light. They are not as soft as flo's but are softer than a bare tungsten. They would work fine as a key with some diffusion in front. Some have put them in softboxes as well (the LED600 from Cool Lights). But it depends how soft of a look you want. I prefer soft key lights in an interview. But in a non-interveiw setup, bare LEDs hitting a person is pleasing light.
If you watch Sunday Night Footbal the post game interviews are done with somebody holding a monopod with an battery powered LED on top to light the athlete. This will show you the quality of the look. |

Hello,
I use Fomex Studio Flashes. They are very good. Built quality is 2nd to none and their softboxers are also good design and durable materials. The best thing is the Studio HD Flashes have 1000w pilot light and the softboxes can take the heat from the 1kw halogen. These are very good for standard studio photography but absolute killers for music videos, product videos etc. Not for the intimate interview though as they have a cooling fan. |
