Paglight C6.. your thoughts...
im looking to go for a smaller on cam light unit for my DVX's and at the moment im runngina 20w generic piece of crap head with a stupidly heavy 12v lead cell battery.. for obvious health and lighting control reasons, as well as ease of transport, im looking to go for a different unit... and i saw the C6 for under $700AUD (bout 400US)
Now this price also included teh battery and charger, as well as teh dichroic and diffusion filters. Now my biggest concern is the 20w output.. I use 35w at teh moment for some good throw up to about 10m... i thought about other globes, but apparently their all 12v not 6v (which is what the battery outputs) So im jsut wondering what peoples thoughs are on this unit.. Ive tried quite afew units, and the closest thing ove considered to this is teh Sachler Reporter 75, however its so damn chunky that i know it will bug me when im out on a shoot.. but i do liek the fact that i dont have fork out for more batteries.. Any ideas..?? i really dont want tot go over teh 500 AU mark, but if i have to so be it.. so long as i have a decent light which doesnt give me hotspots.. Your thoughts would be appreciated |

You wont get the 10m you want. I got the C6 and now another spare batt. I love it. I use it on my DvRigPro with the "slim" batt velcro-ed on the rear of the shoulder support - nice counterbalance. PAG do a 30 watt bulb for the C6 unit - I haven't tried it. It MIGHT be the other option. However it will bring down the batt-time. 2 batts might get you through. The batts spin up quickish, so I keep one on charge - somewhere - while using the other. The diffusers, barns and Dico are great. But no, as is you wont get 10 metres, that is like over 30' maybe even 33' - that's a long way. I get nice 6' - 8' foot . .as I say the 30watt might get you further, how much - you'd have to ask PAG you got this link?: http://www.paguk.com/c6/ email them and ask for a max for the 20 and 30 watts - yeah? http://www.paguk.com/Brochures/Catalogue%202005.pdf I also phoned PAG here in the UK for you. If you want detail, the 30 watt might get you 15' but definately not 10metres. As I say my 20 watt is great up to 8' pushing 10' for interviews. Also the run times 20watt 2;20 hours 30watt 1:20 - so bateries will be needed. Grazie |
