need lighting kit help asap
i was recently told that i will be doing more video production at my place of employment.
i currently use a GL2 for mostly product demo and technical training short vids that are delivered via elearning on the corporate intranet. the new video production will be for DVD or VHS distribution and needs to be a step up from our current "home movie" style recording. i need to purchase a light kit asap as i need to practice with it and have to use it to video some product demos and leadership training involving the CEO very shortly. my budget is $1500 for everything (including hopefully a mic) but lighting is 1st on my list. i have been reading the forum as a guest for a short time and have learned a lot but if anyone could help me out with this situation i would greatly appreciate it. thanks |

I'd suggest getting at least 2 650 Arri Fresnels and a 300 watt fresnel.
That size kit with some gels and clothes pins, and some foamcore 4x8 cards will do a lot. If you only have $1500 for all of that PLUS a mic though....hmmm. You could pick up a Sony ECM 77B for around $200. Have you looked for any used gear? Sounds like you need to double your budget! Jeff Patnaude |

You could look at the Britek kits at http://www.rostronics.com . Many people are really happy with these kits, especially compared with the more expansive Lowell DV creator kit.
I am using a britek kit myself for corporate works and I am really happy with it. Do a search here and you will find quite a few posts about Britek. Hope this help,
