Light Controller and Dimmer Racks
The school that I currently work at is planning to purchase some light control equipment. I was wondering if anyone here would recommend companies or products that do a pretty good job.
Our basic setup has anywhere from 12 - 24 stage lights. So I would need something that can handle that. I'm kind of new to lighting live performances. Thanks in advance, Anthony |

I have had good experiences with the ETC line of lighting controls. They have some nice computer boards, and seem to be used pretty widely in the theatre world.
Some may find the user interface in the software idiosyncratic, but I like it and it makes sense to me. For your theatre, you may want the Express 24/48: http://www.etcconnect.com/products/products.asp?4 For something simpler (and no doubt cheaper), there's the Acclaim: http://www.etcconnect.com/products/products.asp?6 Because ETC boards have DMX-512 outputs, you can interface them with dimmer packs from different manufacturers. I don't know dimmer packs as well. Good luck! Michael |
